Smiling is one of the most basic needs for good self-care. By reminding ourselves to smile, even when we’re flustered and stressed out, we “trick” the body into believing that everything is good, thereby reducing stress. It’s an instant psychological shift. While it sounds a bit self-serving, there have been many studies done showing that smiles spread a kind of peace and goodwill to the people around you.
I want to clarify, though, that smiling more often doesn’t mean living a carefree life. It doesn’t mean carrying on without worrying. It’s more about paying attention to the little things and appreciating what we have rather than focusing on what we want and "need."
Remember, you have everything you need right now to do what you are born to do. So don't sell yourself short. :)
So often we go through our day focusing on what's wrong and missing out what's right. We’ve gotta rewire our brains and develop the habit to appreciate more and smile a lot more often. There is always something to smile about. Always something to be thankful for.
Did you know that even the most forced of smiles could genuinely decrease your stress and make you happier? So never underestimate the power of a simple smile. It’s a basic gesture every human on this planet can understand and use. And the best part? It’s absolutely free. Smiling more often should be a mission for us all!
I’m so overwhelmed and overjoyed at all the love my Smile More Often pins are receiving. They are available in pink, mint, black and white. They are selling faster than I anticipated and I’d love for you to get your hands on them before they’re all gone. Get one for yourself and for your best friend. Head on over to the shop now!
What are your resolutions for 2018?
Smile more often and love yourself always,
Kai
