Hey caffeinated friends,
After posting once a month, I think it’s time to do a little Instagram refresh!
I’ve been on a bit of a ghost on Instagram these past few months. I’ve lost about two hundred followers due to inactivity and it didn’t really dawn on me that I felt uninspired and discouraged because of it. I felt so much pressure to present my work. So I stepped away to shift my focus. I wanted to redefine my goals and have a plan—to be more proactive and less reactive. That said, I thought I’d do a little kick-off for my Instagram refresh.
What’s most important is that it’s not so much a refresh in style, as it is a refresh in mindset. Pictured above is my moodboard to inspire the content I want to share. I’m sticking with the warm and light color palette. But also being more open with the art making process. Not just the finished work.
To let you in on my messy studio and share coffee break ideas. It doesn’t have to be perfect. To be honest, I got caught up with wishing I was as good as other artists I follow when really, I should be focusing on—exactly what these other artists were doing—sharing the process. It’s not a competition, it’s a community.
It’s a conversation and that shift in dialogue alleviates the pressure of having to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be. I kept waiting for the certain something worth sharing and well... I started asking myself, What the hell am I waiting for?
Time to show up and start sharing again,
— Kai
