Pinspiration: Packaging Ideas
I’ve been rummaging through Pinterest for packaging idea since we’re opening the shop on March 31st. Anyway, the plethora of pinnable inspiration is so exciting! Sure, I’m looking to package shop orders, but you can use these ideas for gifts or party favors.
The possibilities are endless. Okay, maybe not because we ain’t filthy rich… Limitations are oftena good thing. And on that note, here are 10 fun DIY packaging ideas:
I like the simplicity and honesty of this packaging. Hand stamped drawstring bags are perfect if you are selling or giving jewelry as a present. Add a handwritten thank you note your customer will surely appreciate.
Here’s another idea! I love the illustration style and muted pastel tones in this palette. I don’t have a series/set to sell at my shop yet, but I pinned this because I’d love to give this a try.
I’ve got a gazillion stamps for Michael’s dollar section that I can finally put to use. I like that each bag will be different. And I especially like the gold emboss on the tag. Time to use the scrapbooking supplies that have been gathering dust in my bookshelf.
Yes, I did go pin crazy, but come on! This isn’t even within the realm of kaiffeinated’s color palette, but I love the touch of gold. Maybe use tea cups or tags instead of feathers.
Got paint? Why not paint patterns on gift-wrapping paper? I’d have a field day painting splatters… and possibly get carried away painting giraffes. I’d end up covering the floor with paper as I wait for them to dry. WET PAINT. DO NOT TOUCH.
More of a gift giving idea. People are so damn creative. I love it. Not sure how feasible this would be to ship orders. Maybe if I wrote “Handle with care. Cat inside.” Mr. Postman would understand, but the sorting conveyor belt might not.

I love this. I’m pretty sure it’s a baby shower related event, but you can change it up. Here’s a thought: Attached a slice of pizza instead of a note. It’s heavy enough that it won’t fly away.
A gift tag idea. You can purchase a ribbon or tag hole punch to streamline your process. I think this is a great way to add personal touch to your packaging and practice your hand lettering.
Consistency does help with efficiency. But what if you don’t like to do the same thing over and over when you package your orders? By all means, you do you, boo boo. Take those reams of 12x12 cardstock and scrapbook away! I like the handmade, crafty quality to these cards, but bare in mind that the post office might not be able to sort these out.
I’d really like to include something cute like this to my packaging, but I also know I won’t have time to make them. If I were to wrap a present, then I’d absolutely give this a try! I think felt sheets are 60 cents at Michael’s, pero don’t quote me on that. Felt crafts have made a comeback. So why not add a little felt cloud to your gift tag? Or a heart? Or a donut?
